WatchGuard Video is the world’s largest manufacturer of law enforcement video systems, supplying in-car and body worn cameras along with evidence management software to nearly 1/3rd of all law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and Canada. The company is a four-time winner of the Dallas 100 award honoring the fastest-growing, privately held businesses in the Dallas area. In addition, WatchGuard was included on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private American companies in both 2015 and 2016.
TThe client’s hardware used by law enforcement agencies all around the country records videos and frequently enough, the videos need to be produced at courts as evidence. WatchGuard would produce the requested video as CDs. They knew the system was slow and the possibilities of the discs getting lost were high. As video streaming became more prevalent, the client wanted a better and secure solution to produce the videos recorded by their systems.
Impiger helped WatchGuard build a Cloud based evidence management system that allowed them to stream video evidence to the concerned authorities. The web platform which uses Shared Access Signatures (SAS), an extremely secure authentication agency on the Microsoft Azure platform. Although SAS is widely used to grant a user restricted access to unstructured databases, it can be pushed to cover video data as well without any digital leakage or compromising on the time span and permissions for queued users. The solution also employed warm-up scripts that supervises the sessions of the users viewing media files.
