Monitoring and Evaluation System for Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Malawi
Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Malawi partnered with Impiger to develop a Tablet Report System to closely track progress and ensure timely reporting on the Civil Works project under the ministry. The primary objective of the system is to provide an effective mechanism to actively engage with contractors, service providers and public officials thus, enabling them to rapidly respond to issues afflicting project development and performance.
The features include- Data Capture, Geo-fencing, Content Manager, Workflows, Report submission, consolidation and generation, Dashboard and Notification
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is the custodian of the Malawi's Education Sector as well as all matters relating to Science and Technology.
Malawi Education Sector Improvement Project (MESIP) Project component 2 will help reducing Pupil Classroom Ratio (PCR) in the 8 most disadvantaged districts (Kasungu, Dedza, Lilongwe Rural West, Mzimba South, Thyolo, Mangochi, Machinga, and Chikwawa) and reducing teaching ‘under the sun’, thus improving the learning environment. It will also focus on improving the retention of teenage girls especially in standards 6-8 by improving availability of sanitary facilities, an issue identified as a constraint for girls. The component will also support construction of 500 new classrooms, 300 sanitary blocks, focusing mainly on girls’ sanitation needs and some 150 water points.
To monitor the progress of the construction project real-time, Impiger deployed a tablet-based reporting system along with web-based dashboard
The solution has below components
- GPS capability- To provide a spatial understanding of the ongoing construction works.
- Data Capture and Consolidation- which helps in data collection and capture location of associated issues and proximity of communities.
- Workflows and Notification- To provide capability to identify areas that need assistance using the inbuilt workflows, emails and SMS notifications, as well as blogs for stakeholders to provide feedback.
- Dashboard- Provide maps and geospatial data for all stakeholders for information, decision making, and planning.
